How to compare supplier feeds before importing products

Compare earlier and latest product snapshots by SKU to spot missing products, price changes and stockouts before you update your store.

What does a supplier feed comparison check?

Supplier Feed Watch compares two CSV or JSON files containing product data. It matches products using their SKU, then reports additions, removals and changes to names, prices, stock quantities and currencies. It also reports added or removed column names. It compares snapshots; it does not connect to your supplier or modify your store.

1. Prepare two snapshots of the same supplier feed

Keep the earlier export as your baseline and download the latest export from the same supplier. Both need the fields sku, name, price, stock, currency. Row order can differ. SKU values must be unique, stable and written the same way in both files. Read the CSV and JSON format guide for examples and input limits.

Choose comparable exports: the same catalog scope, currency conventions and warehouse selection. A partial download can make products look missing, even when the supplier still sells them. If the format is invalid, the checker stops and explains the issues instead of returning a potentially misleading comparison.

2. Set a price review threshold

The default threshold is 10%. A price moving from 20.00 to 23.00 is a 15% increase, so it needs review. Decreases at or beyond the threshold are flagged too. Smaller price changes still appear under All changes. A currency change is flagged separately; prices in different currencies are not treated as a directly comparable percentage.

The threshold is a review preference, not a recommended margin or pricing strategy. Use a value that fits your catalog. When the old price is zero, the tool requests review rather than calculating an undefined percentage.

3. Investigate the flagged changes

• Missing product: a SKU exists only in the earlier snapshot. Confirm whether it was discontinued, excluded from the latest export or accidentally omitted.
• Stockout: a product with stock has reached zero. Verify timing and supplier accuracy before changing availability.
• Price or currency change: inspect the earlier and latest values and confirm the supplier intended them.
• Schema change: a column was added or removed. Check whether your import mapping still matches the supplier’s format.

A flagged change is evidence of a difference, not proof of a supplier mistake. Use the search box to find a SKU or product, and switch between all changes and items needing review. The report shows both values so you can investigate without reopening each source file.

4. Export your findings

Download the CSV report and share the relevant rows with your supplier or operations team. The export contains the complete report, even when the on-screen search or filter shows a smaller selection. Keep your original snapshots alongside the report if you need an audit trail.

Are my feeds uploaded or sent to AI?

No. File reading and comparison run locally in your browser. No account or model API call is needed. The optional pilot enquiry form submits only the contact and enquiry details you enter.

Does this validate my Google Merchant Center feed?

No. This tool compares a specific supplier-feed format across two snapshots. It does not check Google Merchant Center policies, landing pages, images, required channel attributes or approval status.

Can it monitor my supplier every day?

Daily monitoring is a proposed pilot, not an active service. The proposed price is $49 per month for one supported feed. You can request an invitation on the home page; submitting a request does not create a subscription or take payment.

What does “no changes” mean?

It means the supported fields match for these snapshots. It does not prove that either file is complete or accurate. Values in additional columns are not compared, and only additions or removals of their column names are reported.
